Dorothea Van Camp

My work is about subverting the need to know.
 
The imagery is found in a process that makes use of printmaking, drawing and painting to arrive at something on the edge of recognition -- somehow familiar but unknowable -- resisting definition.
 

I have lived and worked in the Boston area since 1985 participating in Open Studio events throughout the area since 1990. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design by way of Industrial Design and Medical Illustration at the University of Cincinnati, I have recently been exploring drawing and painting further during residencies in Italy and Philadelphia. My work is in hundreds of private collections across the country and in as far flung locations as Iceland, Argentina, and Italy.
